Hitler and Mussolini
After World War I there was chaos all around the world and people were searching for an answer. Many countries were mentally and economically drained, and people were rushing for change. The leaders Mussolini in Italy and Adolf Hitler in Germany came to rescue these two countries. In order to make change countries signed the Treaty of Versailles signed by France, Britain and some American Leaders. This treaty stated the way to cope with World War I causing Germany to have to pay much of the debt.
Mussolini
Mussolini was born on July 29th, 1883 with the name Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini and died on April 28th, 1945. Mussolini father was a socialistic black smith, and religious school teacher. Mussolini was an Italian politician who led the National Fascist Party, ruling the country from 1922 to 1943. Mussolini had a great impact in the creation of fascism. Mussolini had changed his beliefs during World War I and was a very nationalistic figure.
In 1919, Mussolini arranged for a Latin Fascist group who would work to solve problem and corruption within society. This group called the “black shirts” attacked and destroyed unions and farmers causing the elected officials to step down. This was how Mussolini rose to power and became the dictator of Italy in 1925. His plans were to fix the society and help the people recover from World War I.
In Italy, under governmental control, Mussolini decided to take complete control of businesses, agriculture, trade and all industries. This did have a positive effect because there was significant growth in the economy but many people lost wages and went on strike. In order to spread his Fascist beliefs he sent out slogan for people to remember, this gave stereotypes from young children to old men and women. A very big goal of Mussolini was to target the young children to start affecting them at a young age.
Fascism is when extreme nationalist run the society and glorify over violence and action. Fascists are often under totalitarian rule (see glossary).Fascists were antidemocratic for several reasons, one being that it led to greed and people becoming power hungry, more personal goals then national goals being achieved and they wanted the citizens to serve the state. Fascism differs with communism in that this focus on the goals of the society rather than communism targeting the working class. Both do work in ruff economic times. Mussolini’s views where all for Fascism and Totalitarian society in Italy. Mussolini got Italians to be fascists by appealing to their needs such as a stable government and decreased corruption. Mussolini got the society running again and his nationalistic actions motivated the Italians to create change.
Hitler (Weimar Republic)
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20th, 1889 in Austria and died on April 30th, 1945. Hitler was German politician and the leader of the Nazi Party. He was chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and dictator of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945.
Adolf Hitler was dealing with World War I as well was Mussolini was redesigning Italy after the great impact of World War I. Germany was in a great deal of chaos due to fighting the World War I. After the Treaty of Brest was signed, pulling Germany out of war the Weimer Republic was created. The Weimer Republic was a democratic government that was created by the chancellor. This constitution that was created gave women and men the right to vote.
Adolf Hitler was sure that his Reich would be in rule for a thousand years. When starting to fix the country he became very angry with the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler then agreed to run a totalitarian society. To keep society in check he distributed the Nazis to control all aspects of German life. Many were in favor of Hitler because they want to revive German power. In order to make change Hitler set out for projects to fix the society of the Great Depression. While fixing society he made the Nazis feed information to the young citizens. This caused the people to have a racist side and anger towards certain racist because they were told to hate them. While children played a great role the women roles were removed. While limiting the power for the people they sent out propaganda to persuade people on their racial views and stated that they were corrupted by Jewish influence. Germany limited the power of the churches especially the Catholic Church. On the other hand Hitler demanded to drive out the Jews from Germany in 1935.They also limited the powers of Jews and wanted them to completely be removed from Germany.
Germany was turned to a fascist at the same time as Mussolini declared a fascist state of government. Anyone who disobeyed the Nazis was sent to a concentration camp. Hitler became the main ruler of Germany and tried to expand his power and the land throughout Europe. Hitler then works to break the Treaty of Versailles in order to continue to strengthen Germany. All the western democracies gave into Hitler to keep peace. This is called and appeasement,
because Hitler was so powerful and they knew they wouldn’t be able to conquer Germany. Hitler continues to gain land and strengthen the Nazi's. Britain and France agreed to not create of war due to being frightened against Hitler. While
the U.S created sets of laws one including, the forbid of war materials to any nation, prohibited Americans on ships. Lastly Rome, Berlin, Tokyo created an alliance to take over the Soviet Union. Germany still begins to take action and
increase their power. He takes over a small piece of land in Austria. Hitler then tries to take over Czechoslovakia because they were one of the two remaining democracies in Easter Europe.
Munich Pact-
Hitler then wanted to take over Sudetenland from the Czech’s and Britain and France did not want to go to war. They signed the Munich Pact in Munich, Germany in 1938. This pact explains that Hitler will take this land without war and he will not ask for anything else. Many countries became fed up with Hitler soon leading them into a very intense war.
